YOUTH - LTC 2020
It was a hot Texas summer day and the last day I wore sandals. I was at the San Marcos River tubing with my brothers and cousins about a month before school started back up again. Before heading to the river it was decided that me, my oldest brother, and my oldest cousin would all get our own tube and my other brother and cousin would share a canoe. When I got to the rapids I had figured that I’d be fine if I kept my sandals on, I was very wrong. As soon as I went down that first rapid my tube instantly capsized and I sunk to the bottom of the river because my sandals weighed me down. Now I don’t know if any of y’all have ever tried to swim upwards in flip-flops but it’s pretty difficult especially when you’re flying down a river. I was thankfully saved by a random rock just before the last rapid dragged me into its watery abyss. I tell you this to say that I was saved not only by that rock but also by Jesus, my savior.
Psalm 69 verses 1 & 2 Save me, O God, for the waters have come up to my neck. I sink in the miry depths where there is no foothold I have come into the deep waters; the floods engulf me.
